South End Earth Day (SEED)

Each Spring, volunteers come together to care for the community gardens in the South End and prepare them for the growing season. Over the last 15 years it’s developed into so much more, with free food and drinks, local entertainment, and an array of community resources. We’d love for you to join us.

Volunteers will meet at Radix at 10 a.m., form groups for each garden site, and team up with a Crew leader. We’ll provide all the tools and supplies needed to freshen up garden beds and remove debris that has accumulated over the winter.

At 1 p.m. the Block Party starts, with food and refreshments, music and dancing going until 4 p.m. Countless community-based organizations will be there, eager to share what they have to offer including free health screenings, clean energy job resources, soil testing, and more.

If you are interested in volunteering, setting up a table, having an activity, or sponsoring this event please DM us or reach out to haley@radixcenter.org for more information. We hope to see you there!

This event is hosted by Radix Ecological Sustainability Center and AVillage, Inc, with the support of: the Albany Community Land Trust, Capital Region Clean Energy Hub, City of Albany Love Your Block & Office of Sustainability, The Collaboratory at ACPHS, Giffen Elementary School, Historic Cherry Hill, Hudson Valley Community College's Educational Opportunity Center, Red Bookshelf, SEAT Center, and Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region.
